8 Months Old

Hey!  Look at my new toy!

Silly Otis!

Daddy's funny...

...even Otis thinks so!

Little Miss Olivia hit her 8 month mark yesterday.  We got her a Zany Zoo play cube, and she loves it.  It's pretty freakin' cute, and keeps her busy for long periods of time!  Here's what else she's up to:
  • Still not crawling, but can balance on her hands and knees and sort of rock back and forth. She still gets irritated if she's on her tummy for long, but she'll humor me for a bit.
  • Rarely tumbles over when she's sitting up anymore.
  • Attempting to pull up, but not fully successful yet.  If you help her just a little she can do it, and she can get about halfway on her own.
  • Eating Stage 2 foods twice a day, and still formula every 4 hours.  There's nothing that we've tried that she just won't eat, but seems to prefer the fruits to the veggies.
  • Anything she can get in her mouth, or get her gums on, she loves.  Loves the hard plastic and wood surfaces most.  I left her on the floor to play about 3 feet from the coffee table the other day, came back in, and she'd scooted on her bottom all the way up to the table, and had wrapped herself around the leg to get a good bite.  She chews on her new high chair tray between pretty much every bite of food, and she'll chew on the hard plastic parts of her paci and her carseat strap if she can't reach anything else.  All this accompanied by massive amounts of slobber for months, and STILL NO TEETH!
  • Still has a blast in the bathtub.  This one's definitely going to be a water baby.
  • She's a babble bottom.  Total motormouth.  She definitely says "Dad" although I can't figure out exactly who she's asssociating it with--sometimes she calls Colin that, but occasionally it was directed at me, and once it was for another baby's dad in her class. Hey is still probably her favorite word.  She makes almost any sound, apart from Ma.  Thanks kid.  ;-)
  • As I mentioned before, she's finally outgrown her bumbo for eating.  We sure did love that thing while it lasted!
  • She's very ticklish.  Really cackles loudly when you tickle her.  And it makes me laugh harder than she does!  Her laugh is hilarious...I've got to get that on video asap.
  • HATES having her nose wiped.
  • She's starting to chunk up.  From pictures, people assume she's big (it's just those chubby cheeks!) but she's been between the 10th and 25th percentile her entire life.  She's finally getting the leg rolls that I've been waiting for!
  • One of her teachers at school called her "the cuddliest one in class".  I love that.  She really is a sugar pie.  That's currently my most commonly used nickname for her--"Sugar" or "Sug".
