Potty Training Success!

Warning:  May be TMI for non-moms.  Read at your own risk.  :-)

March started off with a bang--Olivia finally decided she'd voluntarily poop in the potty!  I cannot express the excitement around this event at our house.  We'd been battling major constipation and frustration, and even resorted back to pull ups for a few weeks from when we started potty training.  We'd had a long standing promise on the table for an Olivia the Pig backpack, probably from about January.  Here's how that conversation went:
Me: "I will buy you ANYTHING you want if you'll poop in the potty.  Anything.  Just tell me what you want."
Olivia: "A backpack."
Me:  "Deal.  What kind of backpack?"
Olivia:  "Olivia the Pig backpack."
Me:  "Done.  Now all you have to do is go in the potty to get it."
Olivia:  "A PINK Olivia the Pig Backpack."

So, the search was on, and let me tell you, pink Olivia the Pig backpacks aren't as easy to just go pick up as one might imagine.  I found one on Amazon, though, and by the time she decided that she'd try going in the potty, it had been taunting her from the back of the toilet for about a month and a half.  And this momentous event just happened to be exactly the day before she started her new class at school with just slightly older kids who are pretty much completely potty-trained.

I should mention that there was one additional (and not unimportant) contributing factor.  About a week prior to this, Olivia discovered TCBY.  We had a little family outing where she got "Pink Ice Cream" with pink toppings, and she was in love.  Never underestimate the power of this kid's sweet tooth.  On the first Friday of March, we promised her a trip to get whatever kind of "Ice Cream" she wanted from TCBY if she pooped on the potty that weekend.  Sunday she collected.  Oh, and she had chosen "Black Ice Cream."  A couple of people even asked me how I was planning to make that happen if she succeeded...My response was that that was the least of my worries.  I was pretty confident she wouldn't reject a dark brown substitute (AKA chocolate).

We've definitely had some backslides since, but all in all, she's done very well, and has remained in her girl panties.

 Success!

 Backpack's loaded.

YUM!
